    Event Overview

    The World Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) Day event was celebrated on 19th September 2025 at the Department of Pediatrics, Lok Nayak Hospital (LNH), Govt. of NCT Delhi from 10:00 AM onwards.
    This event was organized by the Department of Physiotherapy, PDUNIPPD in collaboration with CDC/ COE-EIC, Department of Pediatrics, Lok Nayak Hospital with the approval of Director, PDUNIPPD (D)
    under the awareness generation and publicity scheme of DPwD, MoSJE, Govt. of India. A total of 97 participants including 18 beneficiaries – children with DMD and their parents – attended the event.

    Program Highlights

    • The program began with a talk by Dr. Himangi Dayal, Specialist, COE-EIC, CDC, LNJP on “Living with DMD – New Treatment and Practical Aspects”.
    • Dr. Monica Juneja, HoD, Paediatrics, LNJP delivered the welcome address.
    • Green felicitation was conducted for all luminaries, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by esteemed speakers and dignitaries.
    • The event was graced by Dr. Munisha Agarwal, Dean, MAMC and Dr. B.L. Chaudhary, Medical Director, LNH who addressed the audience with motivating words.
    • Mr. K.V.S. Rao, Former Director, DEPwD, GOI delivered a public awareness talk on “Schemes and Programmes for the Welfare of PwDs & Self-care by Caregivers.”
    • Dr. Nicheta Bhatia, Nutritionist & Dietitian, gave a talk on “Diet and Nutrition for People with DMD,” emphasizing high protein intake and obesity prevention.
    • Mrs. Manju Vats, Lecturer (PT), PDUNIPPD delivered the vote of thanks.

    • One-on-one counseling sessions
    • Assessment and management camp by Physiotherapists of PDUNIPPD
    • Registration for aids and appliances under the ADIP Scheme
    • Fun activities for children: mask making, pot painting, and “passing the parcel” game

    End of Event: The event concluded on a joyful note, celebrating the spirit of children with DMD and their families.
