Occupational Therapy Department of PDUNIPPD organized a Lecture on the occasion of Autism Awareness Day 2025, celebrated on 3rd April 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about acceptance and inclusion of the children with Autism into the community.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by the esteemed speaker, along with Heads of respective faculties seeking the blessings of almighty for all. The children with special abilities gave a mesmerizing stage performance. Dr Madhu Mohanty, HOD & Assistant Professor OT delivered a welcome address and highlighted the unique strengths of ASD in their own ways.
Dr Arpita Gupta, Associate Professor,VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital delivered an insightful talk on ‘Common myths about Autism’ and the critical signs to identify and differentiate Autism from other conditions .She also emphasized the importance of identifying and nurturing the unique and the hidden talents of Autistics.It was followed by parental interaction and discussions. Dr Meenakshi Batra, Lecturer (OT), delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker, caregivers of children with special abilities/PwD, and attendees for their participation and support.
The event was attended by a large gathering of around 130 people comprising of Divyangjans along with their caregivers, Students, Faculty and Staff of PT, OT and PO. The observation of Autism Awareness Day 2025 at PDUNIPPD served as a powerful reminder to empower the parents of Autism towards accepting Neuro-diversity and fostering functional skills in an attempt towards building an inclusive society.
