Certificate Course in Bench Skills
Objective
The aim of the course is to impart training in bench skills to develop bench workers for the assembly and fitting of orthopedic appliances, artificial limbs, and other assistive devices under the supervision of Prosthetists and Orthotists.
This will ease the work of the professionals and improve service delivery to persons with disabilities, the elderly, and those with locomotor or neurological conditions.
Scope of the Programme
Bench Skills personnel fabricate prostheses and orthoses following technical specifications prepared by clinicians. They process materials, assemble components, make products ready for fitting, and complete final finishing.
They also perform repairs and maintenance and know when to refer back to the supervising clinician. They may be employed by private clinics of Prosthetists and Orthotists, NGOs, government bodies, PSUs, and private P&O agencies.

- Minimum age: 16 years
- No upper age limit
- Must have passed 10th standard
